The Cook and the Critic. A short story about marketing.
In a town lived two men who both claimed to understand cooking.
The first was a critic. He had written about a thousand dishes, knew every recipe and every rule, and told packed audiences what the perfect meal should look like. People paid well to hear him speak. He had never worked a stove.
The second was a cook. No book, no lectures. Instead, he stood in his own kitchen every evening. When forty guests ordered at once, when something burned, when a plate came back. He did not know what worked in words. He knew it in his hands.
For the big celebration, they first hired the critic. He spoke beautifully, but when the rush came, he stood helpless among the pots. In the end, the guests were hungry and the bill was high.
For the next celebration, they hired the cook. It got loud, it got hot, and in the end every plate was empty.
Many can talk about the perfect meal. Only those who have worked the stove can serve it when the house is full.
That is exactly why Studio Felix Koller exists. We did not learn marketing in a lecture hall or an agency, but by building our own businesses since 2016, when the house was full and our own money was on the line. We are the cook, not the critic.
